- Direction
- A dark, high-contrast montage with one caption line carried across the whole piece.
- Pacing
- Long, murky holds, then a flurry of rapid cuts around the 15-second mark before a slower build into the fire sequence.
- Colour
- Each scene gets its own treatment: cold green, saturated red, warm amber.
- Type & motion
- Condensed captions with a neon glow that shifts colour between lines.
- Transitions
- Mostly hard cuts; the rapid-cut flurry is the emphasis moment.
- Purpose
- A mood-first, short-form edit made to hold attention.

Editing breakdowns
What is on screen and why it was cut that way — described only from the finished videos.
- Direction
- A quiet, face-led montage built around a single lyric-style caption line.
- Pacing
- Few cuts and long holds, so each look and gesture has time to land.
- Colour
- Cool steel for the interior and platform shots, teal-green for the night city, with skin tones kept warm.
- Type & motion
- A small, steady yellow caption line sits at the bottom of the frame throughout.
- Transitions
- Sparse and unhurried — the picture does the work.
- Purpose
- A character-focused cinematic edit built to be watched closely rather than skimmed.
- Direction
- One illustrated world, entered through a doorway, with a new scene for every ceremony.
- Pacing
- Each scene builds in layers — backdrop, figures, title, then details — and holds long enough to be read.
- Colour
- Sky blue for engagement and haldi, warm peach for bhaat, midnight navy for sangeet, blush pink to close.
- Type & motion
- Script titles over clean serif details, plus a Devanagari verse to open.
- Transitions
- Each ceremony enters as its own scene; the doorway is the opening reveal.
- Purpose
- A shareable invitation that tells guests what, where and when without feeling like a form.
- Direction
- Keep a one-person monologue visually busy without distracting from what the speaker says.
- Pacing
- Framing and location change as the topic changes, so there is always a reason for the next cut.
- Colour
- Warm, natural and skin-tone-forward.
- Type & motion
- Short keyword titles with a yellow highlight pop in as each skill is named.
- Transitions
- Straight cuts with punch-ins and location changes, so each new point gets a fresh frame.
- Purpose
- Explain a topic clearly in a vertical, short-form format.
- Direction
- A confident pitch told mostly through type, with footage as supporting evidence.
- Pacing
- Quick, repeated beats — a claim, a product, a proof point — with little dead air.
- Colour
- Black, red and white throughout, so mixed footage reads as one brand.
- Type & motion
- Bold condensed captions with red emphasis words, number counters and star ratings.
- Transitions
- Quick cuts timed to the on-screen text, with counters and stamps as graphic beats.
- Purpose
- Present a product range and its selling points in under a minute.
- Direction
- A handheld, observational recap that starts on a headline and keeps the room in view.
- Pacing
- Short clips across a long event, closing on the group moments.
- Colour
- Natural, and kept consistent across mixed phone clips.
- Type & motion
- A bold headline opening — "We're proud to announce" — with highlighted words.
- Transitions
- Straight cuts between clips.
- Purpose
- Recap an event in a format that is easy to share on social.
About Pushkar
I edit videos for a living, and I've been doing it for more than five years. Most of that time has been freelance, for over fifty different clients — one week a moody music edit, the next an animated wedding invitation, a talking-head explainer, or a product video that has to sell.
That range is what I'm proudest of: every brief needs its own pace, its own grade and its own type. I also worked as a video editor at Uniqus Digital Solutions, an ed-tech company, where the job was making educational video clear and watchable.
Outside client work I run my own YouTube channel and Instagram account about editing, which is where I try new ideas and share what I've learned.
